Czech President Vaclav Havel met Saudi Arabia's King Fahd after arriving in Riyadh late Saturday on the first leg of a Middle East tour, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
"The main goal of the trip is to reinforce our links with the region, which is at the heart of Islamic civilization and the Arab World," Havel told a news conference before he left Prague.
Crown Prince Abdullah Ben Abdel Aziz attended the meeting, which focussed on bilateral issues, the agency said.
Havel is accompanied by Czech army chief, Jiri Sedivy, and a group of business people and industrialists.
Havel will later visit Kuwait, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), said AFP.
It is Havel's first trip to Saudi Arabia and the UAE although he made a brief visit to Kuwait in 1994, the agency said – Albawaba.com
