Death toll in Typhoon Kalmaegi jumps to over 140 in Philippines

ALBAWABA - At least 140 people were killed as Typhoon Kalmaegi hit across the central Philippines, authorities reported, confirming that 127 people went missing.

Typhoon Kalmaegi caused massive flooding across the Philippines, official figures added on Thursday, as the storm is moving to Vietnam.

According to the disaster database EM-DAT, this typhoon is so far the deadliest of 2025 worldwide.

The national civil defence office on Thursday confirmed to found of the bodies of 114 people; however, that tally didn't include the 28 bodies discovered by Cebu provincial authorities.

The Guardian mentioned earlier that Typhoon Kalmaegi killed six military personnel whose helicopter crashed on the island of Mindanao, while they were on a duty mission.
