Following her outstanding performance in Rome during the week American Gail Devers will compete in her third 100m hurdle event of the season at the IAAF Grand Prix II Zagreb meeting Monday.
The race will be a confrontation between 33-year-old Devers, one of the most medaled athletes in the world, and Olga Shishigina of Kazakhstan, winner of the Paris Golden League meeting.
In Rome, Devers won in a time of 12.47sec, while Shisigina came third.
Allen Johnson of the United States, preparing his 110m hurdles Olympic title defense, will be trying to better his impressive 13.19sec performance at Rome, the best time this year which he shares with Cuban Anier Garcia.
In the absence of Garcia, two-time world champion Johnson will be battling against Atlanta silver medallist and compatriot Marc Crear.
The 400m hurdles should also produce a fast time with world champion Daimi Pernia of Cuba, American world record holder Kim Batten and her compatriot Sandra Cummings-Glover hoping to better Moroccan Nezha Bidouane's time of 53.53sec in Rome.
In the absence of world record holder Maurice Greene, the men's 100m at the Zagreb Mladost stadium should be a race between three Americans; Brian Lewis, winner of the Golden League meeting in Paris; Greg Saddler, the new star of sprint, and Dennis Mitchell, making his return to the track following a doping suspension - (AFP)
