Claude Lemieux scored on a rebound with 8:34 remaining, breaking a scoreless tie and Martin Brodeur came within 30 seconds of a shutout as the Devils forced a decisive seventh game in the NHL Eastern Conference finals with a 2-1 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers, Wednesday.
Devils' Alexander Mogilny scored a much-needed insurance goal just over five minutes later. It became the game-winner when Eric Lindros, playing for the first time since March 12, wristed a shot over Brodeur's left shoulder with 30.1 seconds to play.
"Claude, what can you say? Who else would score?" Devils defenseman Ken Daneyko said to the AP. "He got his goal. He was working hard all night. He jumped on the loose puck but this is his time of year. You know, he's the Reggie Jackson of hockey in May and June."
