The New Jersey Devils are on the brink of a Stanley Cup title, after a 3-1 triumph over the Dallas Stars in Game 4, Monday, taking a 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven finals.

Sergei Brylin, John Madden and Brian Rafalski scored goals on three consecutive shots in a span of 3:41 early in the third period, where the Devils could claim the Cup with a home victory, Thursday.

Ed Belfour made 28 saves for the Stars, who lost for the first time in 12 games this post-season when taking a lead into the third period.

Devils netminder Martin Brodeur had no trouble protecting the lead, stopping just two shots after the outburst and finishing with 16 saves.

Joe Nieuwendyk scored the lone goal for the Stars, who had won their previous nine games following a loss. Nieuwendyk's power-play tally with 1:58 left capped a strange second period in which both teams went long stretches without a shot - (Several Sources)
