The Dubai Judicial Institute (DJI), a leading centre of law studies and judicial training in Dubai, has announced today (Wednesday 10 November 2010) that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Dubai Women's Association (DWA) to offer the Family Arbitrator Qualification Diploma Program. The agreement is in line with the goal of DJI and DWA to highlight the importance of training and development programs to support the overall development of the community and to promote justice, equality and transparency in the society. The MoU was signed by Dr. Jamal Al Sumaiti, DJI Director General, and Dr. Fatima Al Falasi, Director General of DWA.
The launch of the new training program, which is initiated by DWA and represented by the Development Center for Consultancy and Training, is along with DJI's Strategic Plan for 2010 to adopt, develop and implement training programs that help build a new generation of leaders who are capable of upholding the justice system of the UAE. The program aims to provide trainees with know-how related to legislative and legal aspects of the family arbitration field. In addition, students will also be lectured on the concepts and techniques related to the arbitration side of Islamic jurisprudence, personal status law and civil transactions code. The program will also equip trainees with skills in the field of communication and psychology as well as skills in situation analysis, family crisis management, and drafting reports in the correct legal forms, in an effort to reinforce a positive attitude towards adopting best practices for their profession as family arbitrators.
The program focuses on the development of specialized skills in family arbitration to enable trainees to perform tasks with the highest level of efficiency and proficiency with the arbitration rules in both Sharia and UAE personal status laws. The trainees will also be introduced to the best vocational practices and applications.
"The launch of the new training program is part of our strategy to adopt the best vocational practices and standards within the legal and judicial system of Dubai and the UAE. We aim to increase public awareness about the importance of the law and its role in building a progressive community and in promoting safety, equality and justice within the emirate in line with the Dubai Strategic Plan 2015. This diploma program is based on higher learning and applied education principles and the usage of innovative training methods such as case studies, lectures, workshops, applied research, presentations, brainstorming and discussion meetings. The program will enhance the abilities of family arbitrators in the field of research, analysis, decision making and developing thinking methods and strategies to face different challenges related to their work. We plan to implement the program for a period of seven weeks and a total of 86 training hours at the DJI headquarters. We look forward to a long-term cooperation with the Dubai Women's Association and to support its goals and strategic plans for the program," said Dr. Judge Jamal Hussein Al Sumaiti, Director General, DJI.
For her part, Dr. Fatima Al Falasi, Director General of DWA, said: "Dubai Women's Association aims to build strategic partnerships and mutually beneficial joint undertakings with organizations from the public sector and social organizations that support the development of the society and help improve the stability of families. These initiatives are in line with the directions of Sheikha Amina Bint Hameed Al Tayer, DWC President. The Family Arbitrator Qualification Diploma Program is the result of a productive cooperation between the DWA and DJI. The partnership springs from our collective desire to develop a qualified group of family arbitrators who are sufficiently experienced and are fully capable of dealing with family issues and finding lawful resolutions, providing families with a new layer of security in line with the government's efforts to develop a truly safe and healthy community. We are pleased to work with the Dubai Judicial Institute, being the leading specialized center in the field of legal training and qualification, which has been instrumental in making this project a reality. We are certainly committed to working with DJI to realize our shared vision in terms of optimizing human resources and implementing strategies that aim to improve individual and corporate performance. This will ultimately help us achieve a strong reputation in terms of serving the family and the community."
