The Department of Municipal Affairs held an appreciation ceremony on Thursday, June 9, to honour 15 employees for receiving a European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) diploma of "EFQM Excellence Assessors."
The business excellence and quality management programme being implemented recognises the DMA's commitment to the guidance of the Abu Dhabi leaders to adapt excellence tools and techniques as the most reliable methodologies that will enable us to raise standards across the Abu Dhabi government entities.
Ahmed Shareef, Under Secretary of the DMA in Abu Dhabi noted that this appreciation ceremony expresses the DMA's interest in developing its employees. H.E. said: "The EFQM diploma is one of many initiatives the DMA is implementing to enhance the organizational municipal system and help us achieve our 2030 vision."
Shareef also highlighted the importance of this programme in developing the employees' professional skills and setting them up as role models for their colleagues at the DMA and in other government entities. He also noted that working together better will help improve quality management across all governmental entities.
Shareef, during his speech at the appreciation ceremony, praised the employees' enthusiasm and hard work in contributing to improving the DMA's performance and municipal organisational system. He also added that combined with other government entities efforts, this will help to make Abu Dhabi a great place to live, work and visit.
The 15 EFQM assessors are also part of 'Al Nawayef', which is an internal team made up from different parts of the DMA, and who are working together to implement the EFQM standards and spread the business excellence culture across the organisation.
The diploma of "EFQM Excellence Assessors" conducted by the EFQM Institute which is headquartered in Brussels, includes different phases and courses that enables participants to obtain a Masters degree in quality management at a later stage.
