Dubai Media Incorporated will be the main sponsor for the Emirates Energy Award, a newly instituted award from the Dubai Quality Group (DQG) that aims to increase awareness amongst individuals and policy makers on the importance of optimizing energy utilization. The sponsorship was announced yesterday, following a meeting with DMI Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Hussain Lootah, and DQG.
Mr. Marwan Al Sawaleh, Chairman of DQG, said; “We are very pleased to have received the support and sponsorship of Dubai Media Incorporated for this significant new award, which highlights the importance of energy solutions for the UAE. It will acknowledge those who make outstanding contributions to addressing the issues of energy conservation and management.”
The Emirates Energy Award will be presented annually by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, who is patron of the award. It is open to all organizations and individuals; with the condition that the qualifying actions detailed within the submitted entries are being implemented in any one of the Gulf Corporation Council (GCC) countries. Recipients of the award and their organizations are assured of prestigious recognition for best practices in energy management and conservation and these practices will be shared and disseminated to the rest of the candidates.
“This new award will recognize the best implemented practices in the field of energy efficiency, said Mr. Al Sawaleh. “It will showcase the most innovative, cost-effective and replicable energy efficiency measures and will help us to collectively manage our resources more effectively. The significant increase in the demand for energy consumption and its subsequent impact on the environment and economy of the region necessitates the presence of continuous improved energy efficiency, conservation and management measures. This mandates a strong and effective campaign - such as the Emirates Energy Award - to encourage and foster energy conservation and management practices”, he added.
The DQG is an organization dedicated to raising the performance of local businesses. Since its inception in February 1994, it has grown to include more than 2,000 individuals representing over 330 prominent organizations from both the private and public sectors.
The group, under the patronage of HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed, has been organizing and launching several key initiatives to raise awareness about the best shared practices for the industry and business sectors of Dubai. It arranges activities aimed at developing the professional and managerial expertise of individual; among these include the staging of approximately 33 workshops per year, which provide members with the tools and techniques to implement new management theories. Ultimately the DQG aims to ensure that Dubai retains its competitive edge and realizes its vision of becoming the world's favourite centre for business and trade.
