Doha Bank holds International Offices Summit

Doha Bank’s Board members recently held the International offices meet in Qatar on December 14, 2008. The Group CEO, Mr. Seetharaman mentioned that in line with the Boards vision, the Management established its overseas branches in New York, Dubai Kuwait and representative offices in Singapore, Turkey, Japan, Shanghai, Romania, London, & Seoul.

Mr. R. Seetharaman, the Group CEO further mentioned that, given the corporate customers business needs, the country heads will be holding discussions in Kuwait and Dubai following their initial global meet in Qatar. He further added that such yearly global events, provides a very good opportunity for all country heads to share their performance achievements and the initiatives taken with the Senior Management and the Board Members.

Internally, these yearly events also enable senior management to understand the cross selling opportunities with the Chiefs of the respective countries to be able to provide the best of services to the Corporate Customers.

H.E. Sheikh Fahad Bin Mohammad Bin Jabor Al Thani, Chairman, Doha Bank while expressing his happiness on the occasion, appreciated the focus of the International Banking team towards creating a strong, customer-centric service to its customer locally and in the international market focussed on international trade globally and with GCC countries.

H.E. Sheikh Abdul Rehman Bin Mohammad Bin Jabor Al Thani, Managing Director, Doha Bank while congratulating the team expressed his happiness that the bank has created a niche in these overseas locations and has set up its offices in strategic locations, where GCC and Qatar have economic linkages to serve its vast customer base in line with the strategy approved by Board.

The Managing Director also expressed that Doha Bank's expansion in the various locations world wide will also pave the way for imparting a Global on the Job Training Program to the deserving Qatari National Staff, to gain overseas work experience and also develop their overall banking and managerial skills which would be beneficial both to the Bank and the Staff themselves.

While concluding, Mr. Seetharaman said that the global meet will provide a platform for the visiting senior officials to interact with the country specific business groups, ambassadors, local corporates having dealings with these locations, who can be apprised of the bank's specialized products and services for these segments, understand and acquaint their specific needs to be able to offer financial solutions to suit their business dealings between these countries and Qatar.

During 2008, the Bankers Middle East awarded Doha Bank the “Best Globalisation Bank” in recognition of the globalisation initiatives undertaken by the Bank. Recently, Standard and Poors, the International rating agency re-affirmed the “A-“ / “A-2” ratings accorded to the Bank for the Long Term and Short Term Counter Party credit ratings. The rating agencies reaffirmation of the Banks outlook as “Stable”, balances the Bank’s good financial profile with the risk attached to the Bank’s exposure.
