DOMOTEX Middle East, the only dedicated carpets and floor coverings exhibition in the Middle East & North Africa region, has revealed that over USD 2.3 billion worth of projects in the UAE were awarded to various contractors in March 2010, triggering a fresh demand for specialised flooring concepts and solutions across the country. The 2010 edition of DOMOTEX Middle East kicks off on Monday, May 10, 2010 at the Dubai International Convention & Exhibition Centre (DICEC), offering a comprehensive range of flooring products and services that cater to the specific demands of contractors and developers in the UAE and the rest of the Middle East.
DOMOTEX Middle East, quoting a recent report from Proleads, further noted that the latest wave of high-profile projects that were recently awarded in the UAE collectively represent the second largest value in awards in the region, creating a new growth avenue for local, regional and international players in the region's carpet and floor coverings industry. Moreover, DOMOTEX Middle East pointed out that developers and contractors are now eyeing flooring materials that deliver significant cost savings and performance benefits, in line with an ongoing trend to further streamline and enhance the cost-efficiency of projects across the region.
“The UAE continues to open exciting growth opportunities for key players in the carpet and floor coverings industry. New projects were recently awarded with a total value of around USD 2.3 billion, while several more are poised to be launched within the next few months, building up momentum for the UAE's carpet and floor coverings market. As always, DOMOTEX Middle East will provide the perfect platform to stimulate market activity and satisfy the flooring requirements of all contractors and developers of various projects in the country," said Angela Schaschen, Managing Director of Deutsche Messe Branch Dubai.
DOMOTEX Middle East 2010 will present a comprehensive selection of carpets and floor coverings including hand-made and machine-made carpets; textile and resilient floor coverings; parquet and other wood floors; laminates; ceramic tiles, natural stone floors and marble, floors for sports arenas and sports facilities; fibres, yarns and textiles; application and floor laying techniques and equipment; machinery and technology. The trade event targets wholesalers and retailers in the carpet and floor coverings sector as well as decision-makers from construction companies, architects, interior designers, project planners, floor layers and fitters.
DOMOTEX Middle East will be held concurrently with R+T Middle East 2010, the Middle East spin-off of the world’s leading show for roller shutters, windows, doors, gates and sun-protection systems, creating greater business value and enhanced networking opportunities for exhibitors and visitors. R+T Middle East, which is jointly organised by Deutsche Messe Dubai Branch and Messe Stuttgart, will showcase a comprehensive range of products and services, including roller shutters and accessories; windows, window shutters and accessories; awnings; Venetian blinds and roller blinds; doors/gates and accessories; drive and control systems; electrical security equipment; business fittings and furnishings; and technical literature.
DOMOTEX Middle East is expected to build on the momentum generated by DOMOTEX HANNOVER 2010, which was held from 16th to 19th January 2010. DOMOTEX HANNOVER reported a substantial rise in attendance with some 38,000 professionals visiting the event and a total of 1,376 exhibiting companies from over 65 countries. This year's participation represented a three per cent growth in visitor attendance while exhibitor numbers have remained steady. The positive turnout has ensured the continued success of DOMOTEX HANNOVER in spite of the tough global economic conditions and has given the industry the stimulus for sustained growth throughout the year. Meanwhile, DOMOTEX asia/CHINAFLOOR, which was held from March 23rd to 25th 2010, witnessed an overwhelming number of visitors. The visitor footfall at DOMOTEXasia/CHINAFloor was a testament that the flooring industry was back on track in China.
