Dow Chemical in the Middle East Wins
“Employer of the Year Award” at Middle East Business Achievement Awards
Dow Chemical in the Middle East was honored as the winner of the ‘Employer of the Year’ category at the 2nd Middle East Business Achievement (MEBA) Awards last night at an awards ceremony held at The Intercontinental Hotel in Dubai. The highly coveted MEBA award recognized Dow’s unique people development strategies and policies that help create a committed, motivated and effective workforce.

Dow Chemical in the Middle East was selected as the ‘Employer of the Year’ for fostering a distinctive workplace that engages the intellectual and emotional commitment of its employees. Dow was selected as the winner of the ‘Employer of the Year’ category by an expert panel comprising internationally recognized and respected judges appointed by the Institute for International Research (IIR), the event’s organisers.

Commenting on the MEBA Award, John Dearborn, president, Dow Chemical India, Middle East and Africa (IMEA) said: “We are extremely proud to receive this prestigious award, as this recognition is a clear testament of Dow’s uncompromising commitment to sustain a work environment that embraces diversity, promotes inclusion and rewards respect”. The MEBA Awards 2008 is the second edition of these awards, wherein organisations are recognized for their outstanding success, innovation and ethics across the Middle East region. The awards not only honour industry leaders for introducing innovative business practices, but also acknowledge the vital contribution made by individuals and companies to promote the vibrancy of business in the region.

Amongst others, the judging panel featured prominent personalities like John Ford, CEO, The One Centre; Brett King, Vice President, CEO, International American Academy of Financial Management; and Dr Julia Saurazas, Vice President Finance and Administration, College of the North Atlantic, Qatar.

The Middle East Business Achievement award follows a long list of global accolades that Dow has received in recognition of its best practices in human resources and development. Other recent Dow workplace distinctions include awards in Spain, Germany, Argentina, Brazil and the United States. ‘Best Place to Work’ and ‘Top Employer of Choice’ are some of the categories for which Dow has received distinctions in these countries. More recently, Dow Chemical in the Middle East won the ‘HR Initiative of the Year Award’ at the Middle East HR Summit Excellence Awards organised in Dubai.
