Dubai Chamber launches initiative to recognise
Export Performance of SME members

Mohsen Line General Trading honoured for exceptional quantitative
and qualitative performance

Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry launched its initiative of SME Exporter of the Quarter, recognizing export performance of its members from Small & Medium-Sized Enterprises. The move came as part of the Chamber’s strategic objective of supporting the development of business and promoting Dubai as an international business hub.

The first company to be honoured under this scheme is Mohsen Line General Trading which received the SME Exporter of the Quarter recognition from Dubai Chamber for achieving a record export volume in the last quarter of 2008. The recognition ceremony was held at the Chamber premises on Monday.

Dr Belaid Rettab, Executive Director, Economic Research & Sustainable Business Development Sector, said: “Visionary management, leadership, transparency and equity are some of the attributes exhibited by Mohsen Line General Trading that reflects the characteristics of SMEs which Dubai Chamber wants to promote. Dubai is established as the world’s third largest re-export centre and the SME Exporter of the Quarter initiative underlines the contribution of SMEs to this notable accomplishment.”

During the fourth quarter of 2008, Mohsen Line General Trading demonstrated exceptional quantitative and qualitative performance. “By showcasing the achievements of one of our export members, we hope to inspire other SMEs, and highlight the characteristics that can lead to success in the Dubai SME re-export sector,” added Dr Belaid.

Explaining the concept, Dr Belaid said that the SME Exporter of the Quarter initiative was designed to highlight the exporting/re-exporting achievements of Dubai Chamber members as well as to encourage their sustainable growth. All registered members in good standing, employing not more than 100 staff and an annual turnover of less than AED100 million are eligible for the SME Exporter of the Quarter distinction.

Candidates are selected for their quantitative re-exporting activities documented by the Chamber during the previous quarter as well as on qualitative company criteria. The recognition package includes a number of Dubai Chamber services for free which will help the company to enhance its performance and continue working towards excellence.

According to the Dubai Market Insights study released by the Chamber, the Food & Beverage Sector indicates that demand for foodstuffs in 2009 will be less affected due to the current economic situation.  Serving this crucial supply chain, Mohsen Line General Trading appears to have a solid basis for their projected growth plans.

Said Sharokh Khazaei, Executive Director, Mohsen Line General Trading, “Good management, outstanding supplier relations, well-established clientele and flexibility contribute to our company’s achievement in this sector.”
