On the fifth day of the ongoing GITEX 2010 (17th – 21st October), Dubai Customs signed a MOU with UPS, the world's largest package delivery company, to use its (B2G) channel, the latest electronic business service offered by Dubai Customs to its clients.
The MOU was signed by Mr. Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Executive Director of the Customer Management Division at Dubai Customs and Mr. John Tansey, General Manager, UPS UAE LLC. from UPS.
According to the agreement, UPS will be able to submit all custom declarations through its internal IT system, and electronically transferring these submissions to Dubai Custom's Mirsal 2 system, which was launched end of March 2010. This will speed up UPS declarations submissions by receiving electronic declarations on its shipments directly from Dubai Customs.
Mr. Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Executive Director of the Customer Management Division at Dubai Customs, said: 'The Management Division at Dubai Customs always seeks to adopt the latest electronic declaration systems to provide our customers with the best services. In light with the Dubai's vision to promote eGovernment services, Dubai Customs launched the B2G electronic channel, one of the most comprehensive declaration services which was developed for clients with high volume business in the region'.
The new service symbolizes the real partnership between the government and the private sector, and comes in line with Dubai eGovernment vision. Customers will definitely reduce the time for declaration submissions and benefit from the painless and easy online process', he added.
"Processing all of our Dubai Customs-related work through the (B2G) electronic channel will enhance UPS's ability to meet our customers' expectations for timely deliveries", said John Tansey, General Manager, UPS UAE LLC.
"UPS applauds Dubai Customs for its efforts to make the processing of international shipments faster and more efficient. This will benefit not only UPS's customers who ship to and from the region, but also advance Dubai's position as a progressive center for global commerce."
The (B2G) electronic channel is one of Mirsal 2 most comprehensive electronic customs declaration services. It allows private sector companies to electronically process all custom declarations using Mirsal 2 and avoid physical presence for declarations submissions as well as benefiting the information available in the system to simplify processes.
