As further consideration to the evolving technological needs of its customers, Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB) announced today an agreement between the bank and Dubai Police to enable DIB customers to pay their traffic fines via Al Islami Online Banking. The signing ceremony took place at Dubai Police Headquarters, and was attended by senior officials from the bank as well as Dubai Police.

As per the terms of the agreement, in early 2011, DIB customers will not only be able to pay their traffic tickets from the comfort of their homes or offices, but they will also be able to make enquiries about their existing fines. The bank also aims to provide the same service across all e-channels including Al Islami Mobile Banking

Abdullah Al Hamli, Chief Executive Officer, Dubai Islamic Bank, said, "Today's technologically advanced customers are always seeking products and services that are fast, convenient and secure. Our latest offering will provide our million plus customers with the ability to make secure, cardless payments from the comfort of their computers. We thank Dubai Police for their support in helping us continue to expand our online payment services to make day-to-day errands even easier for our customers."

Major General Khamis Mattar Al Mazina, Deputy Commander in Chief of Dubai Police, said: "At Dubai Police, we are keen to develop partnerships with key organisations in the region that aim to better serve the UAE community as a whole. We are delighted to announce our partnership with the world's first Islamic bank, which we anticipate will be of great benefit to DIB customers and Dubai Police alike."

The launch of DIB's new online fine payment service is one of many recent technological milestones for the bank, including the launch of Al Islami Mobile Banking, which provides a wide range of secure and convenient banking services 24 hours a day, seven days a week, through a customised mobile-based website.

The bank also has an enhanced online banking system that provides over 50 services to its customers. Through Al Islami Online Banking, DIB customers can perform various transactions including local and global fund transfers, making a range of utility bill payments, as well as several account and card related transactions. The bank has recently been recognised by its partnering service providers for processing more service transactions than any other bank in the UAE.
