Dubai Knowledge Village (DKV), the region’s premier destination for human resources management and a member of TECOM Investments Education Cluster, and Eton Institute, UAE’s leading training and development centre, today jointly announced ‘Better U – Mind, Body and Soul’, a unique non-profit community event, will host over 100 free workshops.
To be held from 10.00am to 5.00pm on 29 May at Dubai Knowledge Village-Block 3, the annual community event is expected to attract over 1,500 visitors. Organised as part of a CSR initiative by Eton Institute and Dubai Knowledge Village for the second consecutive year, visitors can experience learning a new language, practice an ancient discipline of martial arts or gain expert advice from life coaches and renowned motivational speakers.
Over 40 leading organizations such as DUCTAC, Starbucks, KidzArt, Fitness First, Dubai Drums, Disruptive Play, Profiman and Eton Institute will be offering their products or services for free on the day. With the tagline of ‘A great day to learn something new’, the event is all about learning and experiencing something for the first time and the holistic development of the mind, body and soul.
Dr. Eli Abi Rached, Director of Eton Institute, said: “If I could sum up the philosophy of Better U in a nutshell, it would be the phrase ‘Carpe Diem’ (Seize the Day!). Better U is the only day in a year when you can experience so many amazing things, all at one place for free and get that great feeling when you try something for the first time or learn something new. We promise you a thrilling journey for the mind, body and soul this weekend.”
Dr Ayoub Kazim, Managing Director, Education Cluster of TECOM Investments, said: “As the region’s leading knowledge clusters, it is our ethical responsibility to contribute to the community by supporting initiatives that encourage holistic learning. The ‘Mind, Body and Soul’ event aims to engage the community in fruitful initiatives. We commend Eton Institute, one of the leading training and development centres in Dubai, for this novel concept that we believe will significantly benefit organizations as well as individuals.”
Packed with fun experiences, live performances, prizes and giveaways, the event will feature language classes, salsa and zumba dancing lessons, art and craft activities, drama classes, fitness training and yoga sessions, business etiquette and cultural awareness, neuro-feedback training, career counselling and life coaching, Bodukon and EBMAS martial arts training, computer workshops, and community drumming. A crèche will also be available for the convenience of parents who will participate in the day’s activities.
In addition, the event will also feature prominent non-profit charitable organizations such as SNAP (Special Needs Awareness Program), Feline Friends, The Angel Appeal, Volunteer in Dubai, Take My Junk, The Green Foundation and DARC (Dubai Animal Rescue Centre) that will help raise awareness for their respective causes. Visitors may also bring in their old clothes, toys, books, electronics or other useful items to donate for a good cause.
Better U 2010 will be open to all members of the public. Further information on the event is available at www.betteru.info or email contact@betteru.info.
