Dubai Maritime City, confirmed their sponsorship, for the second time, of the annual cricket tournament in which the teams vie against each other to win the honoured Shipping Trophy. This year sees 12 leading shipping agents and companies contend for the honour of winning the grand prize.
Organized by Gulf Agency Company, Rais Hassan Saadi and Barwil, the Shipping Trophy, now in its 8th year, attracts Dubai’s shipping agents and companies to compete in the two day event, which will be played at the Dubai Cricket Council grounds from 25 February 2005, with the finals taking place on 4 March 2005. The draw for the playing schedule was held earlier this week and sees last year’s winners Rais Hassan Saadi, contending their position.
Commenting on the forthcoming cricket tournament, Amer Ali, Project Manger for Dubai Maritime City said, “This competition has a great draw, pulling together some of the best in shipping to compete together in one tournament. We are pleased to continue supporting this local competition that is run for the shipping community and their families. Last year we saw over 400 spectators, and this year we hope to see many more cricket lovers come to watch this exciting tournament. We wish all the competitors luck, and are very much looking forward to an excellent couple of days of sporting acumen”.
