The Dubai School of Government (DSG), a research and teaching institution focusing on public policy in the Arab world, today hosted a 19- member delegation comprising senior officials from the Central Officials Training Institute (COTI), South Korea. Dr. Tarik Coury, Assistant Professor of Public Policy at the Dubai School of Government, received the delegation members who are part of the New Leader Development Programme at COTI.

Discussions focused on activities at the Dubai School of Government as well as the free zones in Dubai and the Dubai model in general.

The South Koreans were keen to learn from DSG about its effective public development, policy analysis and implementation.

The COTI delegation shared details on the New Leader Development Programme that is designed to serve new civil servants who have passed the higher civil service exam from the initial entry to their appointment as managers. One module of the programme's curriculum focuses on the policy formulation process and the international affairs module requires participants to undertake an overseas study visit to know more about the dynamics of regional and global environment. The visit to the DSG is an outcome of this requirement.

Established in 2005 in cooperation with the Harvard Kennedy School, the Dubai School of Government is committed to the creation of knowledge, dissemination of global best practices and the training of policy makers in the Arab world. The school is focused on capacity building and conducts various programmes that seek to promote good governance through enhancing the region's capacity for effective public policy.
