Dubai Silicon Oasis, the region’s premier integrated innovations hub for high-tech industries, today hosted an event to launch ‘Dubai Passport’ within its premises.
An initiative of Creative Zone in support of the Rashid Paediatric Therapy Center, ‘Dubai Passport’ is a passport-like booklet that will present its holder with special offers and discounts in Dubai and other emirates at over 52 outlets comprising F&B, retail, entertainment and pharmacies. DSO will promote the passport among the companies and employees operating at the technology park and the funds raised will contribute to the center’s mission to provide high quality, integrated education services and therapies for children with special needs.
The launch ceremony was held in the presence of Dr. Mohammed Al Zarouni, Vice-Chairman and CEO of Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority (DSOA), and Ahmad Hashim Khoury, founder of Rashid Paediatric Centre, as well as business partners and employees. Children from the Rashid Paediatric Therapy Center entertained the audience with artistic performances.
Commenting on this initiative, Dr. Zarouni said: “We are pleased to support the Rashid Paediatric Therapy Center whose noble mission extends to supporting the disabled. In contributing to this campaign, DSOA hopes to reach out to the children at this dedicated center and assist them in receiving what is rightfully theirs in terms of education and therapy. We also encourage all organizations to initiate similar activities among their employees that will lead to the enhancement of the community as a whole.”
Dr. Al Zarouni kicked off the campaign by buying the first Dubai Passport himself. The event concluded with DSOA and the Rashid Paediatric Therapy Center exchanging mementos.
Ahmad Hashim Khoury said: “The Dubai Passport concept is a special humanitarian and marketing initiative that aims to support the center’s budget, allowing it to carry out the charity work for people with special needs in the UAE.
“We are grateful to Dubai Silicon Oasis for coordinating this marketing campaign whose returns will support the Rashid Pediatric Therapy Center. This is especially significant at a time when several organizations have ceased their corporate social activities and charity contributions. We sincerely appreciate DSO’s gesture and we thank Dr. Mohammed Al Zarouni for his continuous support of humanitarian causes, especially the center since its inception.”
Dr. Zuhair Abdel Rahim Maimani, General Manager for Creative Zone, said: “The Dubai Passport charity campaign aims to support important causes such as offering financial, emotional and social support to people with special needs. It also offers the tourism, entertainment and commercial sectors of Dubai to participate in this initiative by offering benefits to consumers through special discounts.
“Dubai Silicon Oasis stands out as an example to other organizations by supporting this initiative as part of its corporate social responsibility. The presence of Dr. Mohammed Al Zarouni and DSO’s initiative to host this ceremony profoundly testifies the commitment of the high-tech park towards community service.”
In line with its dedication towards corporate social responsibility initiatives, DSOA has been actively supporting causes and organized diverse activities such as a health awareness campaign, blood donation drives, and seminar on H1N1. It also marks the World Environment Day with tree planting at DSO.
A wholly-owned entity of the Government of Dubai, Dubai Silicon Oasis is the state-of-the-art technology park that provides the right enabling environment for companies looking to set up their regional headquarters and research and development divisions in the Middle East and North Africa region.
