Dubai Women’s College Holds Celebration of Partnerships Ceremony

 Dubai Women’s College (DWC) convened its 21st Celebration of Partnerships honoring several companies, partners, and DWC graduates and staff for their outstanding support of the College during the 2009-2010 academic year. The annual event celebrates the fruitful and abiding partnership ties DWC establishes every year with the national and international communities and highlights outstanding contributions by staff, students and graduates. The event was attended by dignitaries and VIPs, representatives of the banking, business, and media sectors in the UAE and DWC graduates and staff. Commenting on the event, Dr. Howard Reed, DWC Director, said: “With over 21 years of achievements, DWC maintains its pioneering position in the UAE by providing Emirati women with the skills that ensure their success as future leaders.” Dr. Reed added that by establishing strong and long-term partnerships with distinguished organizations and companies in the UAE, DWC is strengthening its position as a higher education pioneer, cementing relations and solidifying its mission to provide a learning environment for young Emirati women to “Practice the Future”. This year’s keynote speaker was Latifa Fekri, President of DWC Alumnae Association who currently holds the position of Vice President - Product Marketing at E-vision, Etisalat. Latifa highlighted several factors required to empower women to enable them become active players in the growth and development of their local and regional communities. The event started with a review of the milestones and accomplishments of DWC’s 21st year including winning international awards, launching new programs, students winning competitions, hosting conferences, and organizing community related events. DWC has awarded H. E. Mirza Al Sayegh as the “Life Time Friend of Dubai Women’s College” for his continuous, exceptional, and most momentous support to Emirati students and DWC over many years Industry Project Technology Award went to Microsoft, Intel, HP while International Study Tour Sponsorship Award went to H.E. Mirza Al Sayegh - Al Maktoum Foundation, HE Lt. General Dhahi Khalfan, Commander in Chief of Dubai Police Force, Swiss International Airlines, Switzerland Tourism. Media Award went to Al Khaleej, Al Bayan, Emarat Al Yauma and Al Ittihad newspapers, Noor Dubai radio, Sama Dubai TV, Dubai TV and Al Dafrah TV. Special thanks went to Wam. Abdul Aziz Al Ghurair, Mohammed Bin Rashid Establishment, Al Maktoum Foundation and WASL received Student Aid Program Platinum Award. Other partners who were awarded during the ceremony included Dubai Health Authority, Standard Chartered Bank, Emirates Environment Group, Sulaiman Al Fahim Group, Dubai Police Force, Harrisburg Area Community College, Emirates General Transport & Services, Al Sofouh School, Horizon School, Sukaina Bint Al Hussain School, Mohammed Bin Rashed Establishment, Deyaar, Msharie LLC, Humaid Bin Rashid Establishment, DWC Alumnae board members, Lloyds TSB Bank, Barclays Bank, DU, Dubai Courts, Dubai Public Prosecution, Serco – Dubai Metro, Dubai Airport Free Zone, Majid Al Futtaim Group, Al Dafrah Group, Community Development Authority, TECOM Investments, Jumeira Group LLC & Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing.
