Dubai Women’s College (DWC) opened today its Fourth Employers’ Day, organized with the aim of maximizing the exposure of job opportunities to all segments of DWC’s student bodies including graduates from previous years and current students.  DWC aims at increasing the number of students and graduates to participate in Dubai’s challenging work environment and society at large.

This year, more than 40 employers from leading organizations, representing the government, semi-government, and private sectors participated and advertised several full-time, part-time and summer employment vacancies during the day. Employers got to interview and immediately employ qualified Emirati females, networked with the students, faculty and staff, and were able to present their organizations’ profiles and services to interested visitors.  Participating organizations represented a wide variety of industries in Dubai and included Majid Al Futtaim Properties, HSBC Bank, Jumeirah Group, Dubai Statistics Center, Dubai Media Incorporated, Al Tayer Group, Al Futtaim Group, National Bank of Um Al Qaiwain, Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing who recently signed an MOU with DWC, Dubai Courts, Dubai Petroleum, Oman Insurance Company, Mashreq Bank, Du, Ducab, S.S.Lootah, Tecom Investments, Union Coop, Lloyds Bank, Standard Chartered Bank and others.

During the day, DWC graduates and students got the chance to meet with participating Dubai employers and discussed possible employment opportunities with them.  Students and graduates were interviewed and received competitive employment offers from several employers.  “DWC Employers’ day is recognized  as a major recruitment event and aims to provide Employers in the private and public sectors with the opportunity to source, competent and talented graduates,  from one of the longest standing Colleges in the community.  Our drive at DWC at these exceptional economic times is to bring to campus the best Employers, on the day, to engage and interact with graduates and students. The objective is to facilitate recruitment for full-time and part-time positions, volunteer and summer employment and internships” said Rabia Bekhazi, DWC’s CAREERS Supervisor.

Employer Relations Coordinator, Islam Abu Jaber noted “Employers’ Day provides a real chance for employers to educate our students and graduates about their organizations, and the available vacancies.  For our students and graduates, this day is the right day to get employed, and to network, as we are hosting more than 40 employers from different sectors. This year, around 85% of the employers are from the private sector, where we want our Emirati students to be more involved now and in the future.”

DWC Alumnae Association participated also in the event. Amal Al Koos, Marketing and Sponsorship Committee Leader in DWC Alumnae Association said, "Our participation today is part of our strategy in supporting DWC activities, emphasizing on building strong relationship with participating employers, and understand the employer's requirements which will help us to enrich our programs.  I believe this event is really value adding for employers, who seeks talented UAE Nationals who are competitive and highly skilled.   This is our first official participation as DWC Alumnae Association which was recently launched to support DWC and UAE community.”

CAREERS at DWC is a diligent department at DWC providing resources and programs that assist students and graduates to realize career opportunities, personal growth and academic success.  Its employment strategies program includes services such as work experience, career counselling, employment opportunities, and an in-depth program of job readiness workshops.  DWC students are trained on preparing for work experience, intercultural communication, work place realities, developing a positive professional attitude, employment trends, Emiratization support program, personality dimensions, and preparing for the job shadow experience.
