In a clear demonstration of the caring culture nurtured at Dubai Aluminium Company Limited ("DUBAL"), the company's employees have responded to the call by H H Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan (President of the UAE) to support the millions of floods victims in Pakistan by collectively donating AED 120,000 to relief efforts. A cheque to this amount was presented today to representatives of UAE Red Crescent, from where the money will be forwarded to those in need.
DUBAL's Mohammed Yahya (Manager: Corporate Relations & International Affairs) represented the employees at the cheque hand-over ceremony, conducted at the company's premises in Jebel Ali. "Our employees have demonstrated their generous and warm-heartedness by giving of their own income to the people of Pakistan who need support at this time. As a company, we are delighted at this outpouring of compassion. Not only does this support for international humanitarian aid reflect DUBAL's position as a global player in the aluminium industry, but it also shows the desire of our employees to help reduce the impact of the flood disaster in Pakistan."
Yahya adds that, at the end of 2009, 18 per cent of DUBAL's 4,000-strong workforce comprised Pakistani nationals. "The multi-cultural environment within our company is conducive to mutual concern," he continues. "Accordingly, donations came from employees from all of the 40-odd nationalities represented on site."
