ALBAWABA - Following chaos in Ecuador, President Daniel Noboa has announced war against drug cartels.

After three days of unrest and clashes between gangs and Ecuador's armed forces, Noboa said that he is in a war against drug cartels to achieve peace.

President said: "We are at war. We cannot surrender to these terrorists. We are doing what is necessary to eliminate insecurity. These gangs think that they will break the president by raiding television broadcasts and taking security forces hostage, but they will not succeed."

The unrest in Ecuador began following the vanish of Jose Adolfo Macias, alias "El Fito," the leader of "Los Choneros," which is a violent organization responsible for drug trafficking and the alleged armed branch of the Sinaloa Cartel, a Mexican criminal syndicate, from a high-security prison in Ecuador last Sunday.

Clashes in Ecuador left at least 11 people dead so far in what Ecuador's president called "internal armed conflict".

Nonetheless, the authority which is in charge of the country's prisons, announced that inmates had taken 139 guards and other staff hostage following the escape of El Fito.
