The fourth meeting of the editors-in-chief of newspapers in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries will be held Sunday in Doha, reported the Gulf Times newspaper.
The two-day meeting will seek to strengthen cooperation and exchange of views and thus help in evolving an integrated role for the dailies in the region, said the paper, citing an official at Qatar’s ministry of information.
He added that the main focus will be on evolving a mechanism for implementing the decisions taken in the previous meetings held in Manama, Kuwait and Dubai.
“Non-implementation of the resolutions and decisions will make such meetings look futile and a wasted effort,” he said.
All the editors-in-chief, he said, are eager that their deliberations should lead to positive and effective results, he told the paper, adding that this in turn will enlighten the public on national and regional issues.
The agenda will also include a discussion on the proposal to synchronize the timing of publication of all the GCC dailies.
Another proposal to evolve a centralized data bank for pictures, texts, drawings and maps, he added – Albawaba.com
