Egypt’s FM in Damascus to Discuss Regional Developments, Arab Summit

Egyptian Foreign Minister Amr Mousa is due in Damascus Sunday to carry a verbal message from President Hosni Mubarak to to his Syrian couterpart Bashar Al Assad and Libyan President Mu’ammar Al Kathafi, who is currently on a visit to Syria. Sources at the Syrian Foreign Ministry told Albawaba.com that Moussa will discuss with officials the latest development in the region, and the Arab summit, to convene on October 21.  

The Syrian official news agency, SANA, quoted Moussa as saying that Syria and Egypt are coordinating their stands regarding the summit, and both presidents agree on the need for a decisive and firm position in response to the Israel’s agressions against the Palestinian people, and its violations of the international laws. 

Moussa siad that the Arabs can prove with documents that Israel practises “state terrorism” against the Arab citizens in the occupied territories of Palestine, warning that the peace process is in real danger. 

Moussa, who is scheduled to hold a press conference Sunday afternoon, held Israel responsible for the escalation on the Lebanon borders.
