ALBAWABA- Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan and Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdel Aaty met in Riyadh to discuss the ongoing situation in the Gaza Strip and to enhance bilateral relations between their countries.
Dr. Abdel Aaty, who also serves as Egypt's Minister of Immigration, arrived in Riyadh for an official visit aimed at deepening cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Egypt.
Saudi Arabia has expressed strong support for the recent joint statement by U.S. President Joe Biden, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, and Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, which called for a ceasefire in Gaza.
The Kingdom's Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated its commitment to supporting efforts to end the violence, address the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza, and protect civilians.
The statement also highlighted the necessity of ending the occupation, achieving lasting peace and security, and ensuring the full restoration of the Palestinian people's legitimate rights.
In a related development, it has been reported that during recent talks in Cairo, Israel expressed willingness to reduce its military presence in the Philadelphi Corridor.
However, both Egypt and Palestine are insisting on a complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from the corridor, underlining their demand for a full evacuation of occupation forces.
