Egyptian Premier Briefs Kuwait’s Emir on Mubarak’s Washington Visit

Egypt’s premier, Atef Ebeid, conveyed on Tuesday a verbal message from President Hosni Mubarak to Sheikh Jaber Al Ahmed Al Sabah, Emir of Kuwait on the bilateral relations and other issues of mutual interest, according to press reports.  

According to Al Ahram Arabic daily, the message also dealt with the results of Mubarak’s recent visit to Washington and was delivered during a meeting with the emir also attended by Amr Moussa. 

Ebeid also met with Sheikh Saad Al Abdullah al Sabah, Kuwaiti Crown Prince and Premier and discussed with him “ways of supporting and enhancing bilateral relations in all fields to achieve the common interests of their peoples.” 

On the other hand, the Egyptian Premier reiterated in his speech addressing a session of the Higher Egyptian Kuwaiti Committee in Kuwait Tuesday that Egypt is “keen on Kuwait’s independence.” 

Egypt and Kuwait have signed an agreement for encouraging and protecting investments in the two countries, and agreed to cooperate cultural, scientific and media cooperation for the period between 2002-2004. The two sides have also agreed, at the closing meeting of the higher committee, to operate air trips directly between Kuwait and Sharm Al Sheik reciprocally and consecutively between Egypt Air and Kuwait Airways – Albawaba.com
