Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak left for Abu Dhabi on Wednesday to greet the United Arab Emirates (UAE) leader who returned home from a kidney transplant at a US hospital, officials said.
Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan al-Nahyan, 82, returned on Sunday after a four-month absence during which time he underwent the operation at a hospital in Cleveland, Ohio on August 28.
The two leaders have kept up a long friendship, meeting regularly since Mubarak became president in 1981.
Sheikh Zayed has made large investments in Egypt, including in the massive desert irrigation scheme in Toshka, near the southern town of Abu Simbel – CAIRO (AFP)
