eHosting DataFort, the region's leading Managed IT and Advisory services provider and a member of TECOM Investments, today announced it will partner with Double-Take® Software, a leading provider of data recovery solutions, to deliver a presentation on the risks businesses face in the absence of disaster recovery planning and ways to mitigate them at IDC's IT Managers Forum in Dubai.

To be held on 22 June at The Atlantis - Palm, both eHosting DataFort and Double-Take will highlight the need to put in place disaster recovery planning should an organization want to protect its most valuable asset – business data that is deemed critical to the survival of an organisation.

Titled: 'Smart IT Buyer', IDC's IT Managers Forum will bring together experts in the sector to discuss and share ideas that address IT spending during tough economic times. According to a Gartner report, despite IT spending registering a 12.4 per cent increase in 2009, IT managers are still carefully examining pockets of opportunities through technology investments to better manage their budgets.

Yasser Zeineldin, CEO, eHosting DataFort, said: "Many businesses across the region have suffered downtime and financial losses over the past few years due to incidents that caused major disruptions to their businesses. From natural disasters like fires, earthquakes and cyclones to deliberate malicious sabotage causing network and power failures, businesses have been driven to the point of closure as a result of a lack of disaster recovery planning.

"Through our participation at the IT Managers Forum in Dubai in partnership with Double-Take Software, we aim to address the need for a more methodical approach to disaster recovery planning in the region. In the event of a disruption, organisations across the region can be well-prepared and be assured that their businesses will continue to operate without impacting the service quality and ultimately, the bottom line."

eHosting DataFort conducted an industry survey in late 2009 that revealed almost 70 per cent of the region's organisations have not put in place a robust Disaster Recovery or Business Continuity Management (BCM) programme, despite growing disruptions and disasters caused to businesses in the region.

Wouter Vancoppenolle, Regional Sales Director - Middle East and Africa, Double-Take Software, said: "Protecting data is critical to an organisation simply because of the challenges it faces in re-creating it. A business needs to be able to access its network and ensure critical data and applications are available at all times without any interruption.

"The presentation will focus on creating and putting in place disaster recovery plans for organisations that want to ensure that their critical systems have backup with real-time replication and access to a disaster recovery site which is managed by a reliable IT service provider."

The one-day IDC forum in Dubai will also look at the changing role of the IT manager to help rebuildand enable an ever-faster-moving enterprise through managing technology, virtualization services in uncertain times, building better business applications through Web 2.0 technology, and managed print services and data centres of the future.

eHosting DataFort offers customers a single solution to perform real-time data replication on both Windows and Linux platforms from a customer's site to a hosted disaster recovery site. With a team dedicated to Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Management (BCM) supported by world-class Data Centres, resilient and scalable infrastructure, eHosting DataFort has established itself as a market leader in the field of managed IT and advisory services with a wide network of technology and channel partners within the GCC/MENA, Europe, North America and Asia-Pacific regions.
