Emarat Sponsors the Dubai Cares' "School Feeding" Campaign in Developing Countries

Emirates General Petroleum Corporation "Emarat" is sponsoring the "School Feeding" campaign which was launched by the Dubai Cares Initiative, as per the instructions of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Prime Minister and Vice-President, and Ruler of Dubai, The campaign aims to provide children in the developing countries schools with their daily needs of nutritious foods that enhance their learning process.

This campaign is one of Dubai Cares Initiative's programs to help achieve the second goal of the millennium's development goals as stated by the UN. The goals include providing basic education for everyone around the world by 2015. The School Feeding campaign was launched in the beginning of the Holy month of Ramadan, and will go on till the end of November 2010.

Mr. Hussain Kazim, Manager Corporate Communications at Emarat, said that the goals of the Dubai Cares Initiative are in harmony with the values of the holy month of Ramadan during which people tend to lend an additional helping hand to those in need. This spirit surely supports the campaign and helps it achieve its humane goals that aim to introduce positive change in the lives of millions of children around the world.

The UNESCO report relating to the Education for All initiative 2010 showed a decrease in the number of unschooled children around the world by 33 million child, as compared by 1999. Statistics of the Global Food Program also show that there are around 72 million kid around the world who are of school age but do not get any education. There are another 66 million child who go to school without getting any nutrition; 23 million of these kids are in Africa alone. If this situation persists, the number of unschooled children will reach 56 million by 2015.
