EMC Corporation (NYSE:EMC), the world leader in information infrastructure solutions, today announced it has been positioned by Gartner, Inc. as a “Leader” in its newest “Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Content Management,”† report.  EMC addresses the Enterprise Content Management (ECM) market with its EMC Documentum family of products.

Gartner describes market leaders as having:  “The highest combined scores for ability to execute and completeness of vision.  They are doing well and are prepared for the future with a clearly articulated vision.  In the context of enterprise content management, they have strong channel partners, presence in multiple regions, consistent financial performance, broad platform support and good customer support.  In addition, they dominate in one or more technology or vertical markets.  Leaders deliver a suite that addresses all six core components, though these are not necessarily owned by them, tightly integrated, unique or best-of-breed in each area.  We place more emphasis this year to demonstrated enterprise deployments; integration with other business applications and content repositories incorporation of Web 2.0 and XML capabilities; and vertical-process/horizontal solution focus.  Leaders should drive market transformation.”

“For more than two decades, EMC has been setting the course in the enterprise content management and archiving market.  And we continue to break new boundaries today with such new innovations as the EMC Documentum xCelerated Composition Platform (xCP) and EMC SourceOne,” said EMC’s Whitney Tidmarsh, Chief Marketing Officer, Content Management and Archiving Division.  “We are honored that the industry experts at Gartner have recognized EMC as a leader in this market.   EMC has the strategy and vision to deliver both significant value to customers and significant impact on the enterprise content management marketplace – now and in the future.”

Documentum is recognized for providing a seamlessly integrated suite, enabling companies to manage content throughout its entire lifecycle.  Additionally, the introduction of Documentum xCP is a major leap forward in the rapid production of what the market refers to as “composite content applications.” Documentum xCP enables organizations to rapidly build dynamic case processing applications substantially faster and at a lower cost with fewer resources.  This applications composition platform provides fully integrated technologies, development and deployment tools, application accelerators and a focus on configuration versus coding – reducing project complexity and risk.  Documentum xCP unifies content management, business process management, intelligent capture, customer communications management, collaboration, case management, analysis and reporting and compliance management into a single environment.  IT organizations and systems integrators can leverage Documentum xCP to rapidly compose a variety of case-based applications and solutions such as grants management, integrated justice, lending, claims processing, new account opening and many others – across virtually all industries.

Further extending the power of the Documentum suite are a rich array of solutions encompassing integrated archiving, e-discovery and compliance (EMC SourceOne), secure extended enterprise collaboration (EMC CenterStage), intelligent capture (EMC Captiva) and customer communications management (EMC Document Sciences).

EMC’s Documentum products are widely recognized as the leading applications for enterprise content management.  For more information – or to view a full copy of the report, compliments of EMC, please visit http://www.emc.com/products/category/content-management.htm
