Emerson opens new measurement manufacturing centre at its Dubai facility in JAFZA

Emerson Process Management, a wholly-owned Emerson company offering the most innovative and broadest array of process automation solutions, has opened a new measurement transmitter centre at its Dubai facility in Jebel Ali Free Zone (JAFZA) specifically for its Rosemount® business, which provides a complete line of pressure, temperature, flow, level, and safety measurement instrumentation.

With a total investment of $3 million, the new controlled environment facility includes 330 square meters of shop floor area, 185 square meters of storage area and 180 square meters of shipping area and will be FM, BASEEFA / ATEX and ISO 9001:2008 certified.

Commenting on the launch of the new facility, Phil Bond, Vice President for Rosemount Middle East and Africa said, "This new facility underscores our commitment and endeavor to better serve our customers in the Middle East. The localization of our manufacturing activity will further enhance our strong customer support and enable us to provide value-added services such as quicker delivery times, local inspection, project order consolidation, and customer training. As a result, we are also aiming to deliver standard models to our Middle East clients within two business days of receiving purchase orders."

"Our current team is made up of a total of 16 engineers including three engineers with business management degrees. Significant amount of emphasis is also laid on training of college students to develop future engineers for the industry. We have already trained one engineer with four currently under training", added Bond.

This new centre will not only cater to our facility in Dubai but also to our recently launched Abu Dhabi facility in addition to our local operations in Saudi Arabia, Qatar and South Africa."

Inaugurating Emerson's new centre, Pat McGillycuddy, Chief Operating Officer of Economic Zones World, Jafza's parent company said, "Emerson's decision to open a high-tech measurement and manufacturing facility here in Jafza adds to the profile of Dubai as the region's most efficient logistics hub. The expansion of their current location underscores the confidence they have in Jafza as a business enabler. Highlighting the capabilities, Mark Schumacher, President and General Manager of Rosemount Pressure Business – Global said, "Initially, Rosemount® pressure transmitters and instrument manifolds will be assembled and calibrated at this facility, which has a capacity of calibrating 20,000 pressure transmitters annually and the capability to perform calibration as low as 15 mmH2O up to 10000 psi. Additionally, we will also be able to carry out hydrotest, static pressure, positive material identification, and hardness and insulation resistance tests."

"With the future planned capacity of calibrating 13,000 temperature transmitters annually, the facility's product portfolio will expand to include temperature solutions. In the longer term remote seals for pressure transmitters and wireless products will be added. This will complement our overall strategy of increasing our capabilities and output in the region", added Schumacher.
