Emirates Bank Partners with Dubai Internet City to Launch the First Co-branded Contact-less Payment Card in the Region

Emirates Bank, celebrating its 30 years of achievements in the UAE Banking sector, has partnered with Dubai Internet City (DIC) the largest managed ICT cluster in the world to launch the first co-branded contact-less payment card in the region.  An agreement signing ceremony took place on Thursday, 14th June 2007 at DIC Head Office between Mr. Louis Scotto, Emirates Bank General Manager- Retail Banking and Mr. Jamal Abdul Salam, Dubai Internet City, Executive Director to establish the project which is due to be rolled out in the third quarter of 2007.

Developed to provide high speed payment of small ticket retail transactions, the card is a modern, non-contact smart chip based credit card which will shorten the time spent queuing at retail outlets’ check-out counters within Dubai Internet City.

Mr. Louis Scotto, Emirates Bank General Manager- Retail Banking commented at the signing ceremony saying, “With Dubai Internet City, being a significant member of the Dubai Freezone Community, and having achieved considerable success and recognition within the local market as a primary business location, we believe that it is the perfect partner for this innovative product. Our combined efforts will revolutionize payment card technology amongst the retailers, employees and tenants of DIC. Emirates Bank is very excited at partnering with Dubai Internet City in launching the first co-branded contact-less payment card in the region.  This revolutionary technology incorporated in this card is yet another product and service designed to meet the individual needs of our customers’ lifestyles and to offer the utmost in convenience.”

The Emirates Bank and DIC co-branded payment card will be accepted and welcomed as a fast-track payment means at all merchants throughout the DIC which have been fitted with a Pay-pass terminal in addition to the standard payment method at other merchants both locally and globally.  The revolutionary new card product is geared to meet the fast pace lifestyle of DIC employees and will offer a range of unique cardholder benefits including exclusive discounts and privileges with the aim to foster greater affinity between Dubai Internet City, their tenants and staff.
