Organised by Mohammed Bin Rashid Establishment for SME Development, a part of the Department of Economic Development, the YEC is being from March 31 to April 3, 2010 at The Dubai Mall. It encourages young students to exploit their entrepreneurial skills through presenting business projects, which will be assessed based on different standards.

“SMEs are playing an increasingly important role in the UAE economy with their growing contribution to the country’s GDP. It is therefore important to grow a talent pool of young entrepreneurs and develop SME skills among youth, as they will be the leaders of tomorrow,” said Saif Al Mansoori – Head, Group Business Marketing, Emirates NBD.

“Emirates NBD is pleased to sponsor the SME project by four UAE national students at DMES, as it is in line with the bank’s objectives to support educational initiatives in schools, while at the same time enabling the development of business skills among youth,” he added.

The Emirates NBD-sponsored project comprises the organisation of paint ball games by a group of four UAE national students from DMES, marking their first step towards becoming a part of the SME sector. In addition to presenting a business plan, the students are expected to showcase the actual implementation of the project, including detailing the organisational, marketing and cost aspects.

Emirates NBD debit and credit card holders can also enjoy a 50 per cent discount on tickets by presenting their card. The paint ball games will be held at the Dubai Mall outdoor promenade opposite More Café.
