England completed their warm-up program for Euro 2000 with a 2-1 win over Malta, Saturday in a friendly international, which will be long remembered by England's goalkeeper Richard Wright who gave away two penalties.

In the 23rd minute, England's defender Martin Keown broke the negative tie with an impressive goal, and the substitute striker Emile Heskey added the second in the 75th minute to give England and its keeper a victorious match to remember.

Heading the Euro challenge, Norway beat Italy 1-0, Saturday, with Rosenborg Trondheim's 20-year-old striker John Carew in their friendly match in Oslo.

But that defeat did not worry the Italians as much as the fact that they will miss their goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon who will not be able to play the Euro 2000 after fracturing his left hand during Saturday's game.

Buffon, who plays for Parma, has been judged unfit by Italian team doctor Andrea Ferretti after the match won 1-0 by Norway.

AC Milan goalkeeper Christian Abbiati will now join Fiorentina's Francesco Toldo and Roma's Francesco Antonioli in the 22-man squad to dispute Euro 2000 in Holland and Belgium - Euro 2000 rules allow for an addition to the named squad when an injury can be certified medically.

"We have already warned UEFA to amend the list of 22 squad members as is provided for in the rules in the case of injury," AFP quoted the Italian spokesman Antonello Valentini.

"Buffon is suffering from a fracture to the third metacarpal bone in the left hand," said Ferretti. "This injury will need at least a month's rest, that's why we have have been forced to stop him (going to Euro)."

Germany geared up their Euro 2000 preparation edging out Czech Republic for a 3-2 win, Saturday in the friendly match fielded in Germany.

Jancker scored Germany's first leading goal in the 38th minute, then his teammate Bierhoff scored the second to bring back Germany's lead at 2-1 from a penalty kick which came in the 62nd minute.

Late in the 80th minute, Czech's Berger equaled Germany at 2-2, warming up the field with more action and attacks, which were exchanged equally by both teams. A last minute goal from Captain Oliver Bierhoff gave Germany the happy end 3-2 result.

Heading the Euro-2000 championship, Romania conquered Greece 2-1 on Saturday in the friendly international match played in Bucharest

Eight minutes from the first kick off, Ciobotariu scored Romania's early leading goal, and Petre added the second in the 80th minute. A bit late, Limperopoulos found the way to Romania's net to minimize their lead to 2-1 - (Several Sources)
