ENOC launches Olympics for employees
• Initiative is part of ENOC Wellness & Social Programme to ensure employee well-being
• Part of ENOC’s corporate social responsibility towards employee welfare
Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC) has launched its version of the Olympics to promote sporting and social interaction among employees. A corporate social responsibility initiative, the ENOC Olympics is part of the group’s Wellness & Social Programme that aims at ensuring the well-being of employees.
Held annually, the ENOC Olympics features teams of employees from all operating levels and different subsidiaries of the group. They compete in five games - football, volleyball, bowling, cricket and badminton. The objective of ENOC Olympics is not only to promote the health and well-being of employees, but also to strengthen solidarity through social networking in an informal environment. The event promotes interaction of employees across all ENOC departments and subsidiaries, thus facilitating greater dialogue and promoting work efficiency.
At a ceremony held recently at the Movenpick Hotel, the winners of the first round were honoured by ENOC’s senior management including Saeed Abdullah Khoory, ENOC Group Chief Executive; Saif Al Falasi, ENOC Group General Manager; Tayyeb Al Mulla, Chief Executive- ENOC International Refining & Marketing; Zaid Al Alqufaidi, Chief Executive Officer- Retail Business Stream and Yusr Sultan, Chief Executive - Shipping, Terminalling & LPG.
Saeed Abdullah Khoory, said: “In today’s fast-paced global economy, intense competition, stress and dependence on technology are driving employees to burnout quicker than before. At, ENOC, we place employees at the heart of the business and we are committed to ensuring that they enjoy the highest quality of life. Employee welfare is also part of our corporate social responsibility, and we take this aspect seriously. We are committed to the professional and personal welfare of our staff members, one of the objectives of the ENOC Olympics.”
“The launch of ENOC Olympics reiterates our commitment to maintaining work-life balance. The Olympics provides a great deal of excitement and fun for ENOC employees and their families, who are also encouraged to support the teams of their relatives,” he added.
ENOC set up a dedicated committee by end of 2008 to help establish the ENOC Wellness & Social Programme. Apart from the Olympics, the ENOC Wellness & Social Programme includes regular sports & yoga classes, family-day events, a Chess Club, and a Book & Film Club.
