ENOC raises awareness on environmental protection practices
• Campaign organised in cooperation with the UAE Ministry of Environment and Water as part of World Environment Day celebration
• 20 ENOC/EPPCO service stations in Dubai participate in campaign
Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC) is contributing to the eco-friendly initiatives currently underway in Dubai, by cooperating with the UAE Ministry of Environment and Water to launch an environmental awareness campaign. The initiative aimed to promote a general awareness about sustainable environmental practices that assure a safer, cleaner and “greener” environment for generations to come.
The campaign, held until Tuesday, June 9, 2009 across 20 ENOC/EPPCO service stations in Dubai, also marked the company’s celebration of World Environment Day. In line with the initiative, ENOC staff members wore campaign T-shirts and distributed information material among customers to increase their awareness on environmental protection practices.
ENOC is a strong contributor to environmental protection and interacts with international conservation agencies to update its knowledge and practices. The group has a wide range of eco-friendly products and services including green engine oils, very low-sulfur diesel, and fuel-saving devices. ENOC also uses only biodegradable plastic bags at all its convenience stores.
Saeed Abdullah Khoory, ENOC Group Chief Executive, said: “This initiative highlights our commitment to the Green Vision announced by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. It also comes in line with the group’s continuous efforts to encourage environment-friendly practices to enhance the quality of life of residents in Dubai and the UAE.”
“We work with an ethos of environmental responsibility that shines through all our operations, products, services and sites. We recognise that as a national institution, ENOC has a responsibility to contribute to the community it serves. With this awareness campaign, we hope that our commitment will be shared by every person in UAE,” Khoory added.
To further mark the World Environment Day, ENOC also participated in an exhibition organised by Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority (DSOA) and Dubai Municipality. At its pavilion, ENOC showcased its new eco-friendly range of engine oils, aimed at addressing energy and environmental concerns and ensuring better health for vehicle engines. Information materials on sustainable environmental practices were also distributed to visitors.
