ALBAWABA - The ship Eternity C, sailing under the Liberian flag and operated by a Greek company, has sunk following an attack off the coast of Yemen, Reuters reports.

Eternity C was carrying 22 crew members; 21 Filipinos and one Russian, was attacked in the Red Sea on Tuesday.

According to an official, the Eternity C ship was sailing off the coast of Yemen when it was targeted by a drone and a speedboat, leading to the killing of four seafarers, while another two were injured.

Reuters reported that traffic in the Red Sea decreased after the Houthis group announced in 2023 to start targeting ships that related to Israel, whether directly or indirectly, in a way to show solidarity with Palestinians under assault in Israel's war in Gaza.

The US Embassy in Yemen said, "The Houthis are once again showing blatant disregard for human life, undermining freedom of navigation in the Red Sea." "The intentional murder of innocent mariners shows us all the Houthis’ true colors and will only further the Houthis’ isolation."

Nonetheless and before the Enternity C, the Iranian-backed group had claimed responsibility for a strike on another Liberia-flagged, Greek-operated bulk carrier, the MV Magic Seas, off southwest Yemen on Sunday, adding that the vessel sank.
