Javier Solana, European Union High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security, said Thursday that he will meet Iran's Supreme National Security Council Secretary Ali Larijani in the coming days to discuss the EU package to Iran to resolve the nuclear issue.
Solana told reporters in Brussels that he had a long telephone conversation with Larijani Wednesday and expected to meet him "soon in the coming days." Larijani is in charge of the "nuclear file" in Iran.
Talking to IRNA, Solana said he had "nothing to comment" on statements made by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad Wednesday that tehran will reply to the EU offer of the package to Iran in August. "The only thing I would like to say is that we are talking after we presented our offer. We expect an answer in weeks, not in months." "I think it is not a very long document and it can be analyzed without much time," Solana told IRNA.
