Vision-X Dubai, the most important industry exhibition and conference for the optical and opthalmic industry in the Middle East, reported a number of significant contracts and business deals completed during the three-day show, including a Dh3 million deal confirmed by EGMA Lens.
Organised by Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) and held at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre from 18 – 20 May 2010, the exhibition is of significant importance for both the medical and fashion segments of the industry, offering a highly targeted and effective networking and business platform for the region's trade buyers and suppliers.
"Vision-X Dubai is the main show in the region and is where trends in the industry are set. The show this year has been excellent, and has allowed us to represent our brands in the best light," said Poya Eghterafi, Managing Director, EGMA Lens, a leading optical lens manufacturer. "We have exceeded our target set for the show, we've conducted some very exciting business, and we have just concluded a Dh3 million deal with Dar Optical Group, who are major players in the region. We are delighted."
The high calibre of visitors attending the exhibition was noted by a number of exhibitors this year. Marwan Asad, General Manager of Barakat Optical said: "This is our fifth year participating at Vision-X Dubai. We have been especially pleased with the quality of customers attending, and have found that this year in particular, visitors have come with a real purpose and are even more intent on learning what is new in the market."
Consumer Optics were one of 12 companies participating within the German Pavilion at Vision-X Dubai. Manager for the company, Peter Frankenstein said: "This is the seventh year that we have exhibited here and it is the only foreign trade show that we come to. Vision-X Dubai is unique in offering access to buyers from the whole region – particularly Saudi Arabia and Iran – in just three days."
Now in its 11th year, Vision-X Dubai has enjoyed the loyalty of a number of exhibitors who have achieved measurable results at the show every year. Nikhail Tolia, Chairman of Future Optics commented: "Future Optics have exhibited with Vision-X Dubai since the very first show. It is the single platform for suppliers and customers to interact at the same time, and exposes us to future trends and fashions in the industry – it is critical for our business."
As a knowledge sharing platform the Vision-X Dubai Conference, co-organised by DWTC and the Emirates Medical Association Opthalmic Society (EMAOS) drew international delegate attendance, with more than 115 professionals accredited with a Certificate of Continuing Medical Education this year. Led by Dr. M. Alaa El Danasoury, a global pioneer in refractive surgery and the President of the International Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the conference provided updates on cornea and refractive surgery and advancements in related technology. An additional video symposium provided access to demonstrations of complex eye surgery procedures.
"Vision-X Dubai is playing an increasingly important role for the opthalmic industry in one of the fastest growing emerging markets," said Trixee Loh, Senior Vice President Dubai World Trade Centre, organiser of Vision-X Dubai. "The broad spectrum that the show covers means that professionals throughout the region are assured of access to the latest information, technology and products."
