Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat's Fateh faction warned on Thursday of a "painful and strong" response against Israeli soldiers and Jewish settlers to the killing of four Palestinians in an army ambush against Fateh activists the day before.
"The Fateh movement condemns this crime and holds the Israeli government and its army, which is occupying and tyrannical, responsible for this human massacre, and we warn it of the results that come from dangerous escalation," Fateh said in a statement.
"The Fatah movement stresses and warns that the blood of its sons will not run for nothing and the response will be painful and strong," it added.
"The Fateh strikes, and the strikes of the Palestinian people and their brave resistance will reach deep into the Israeli army and the settlers," it said.
