FBI worried about NTT-Verio deal

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has raised national-security concerns about a Japanese company's attempt to acquire a US Internet service provider, signaling the government's increasing worry about the globalization of, and its loss of control over, telecommunications networks, The Associated Press reported on Friday. The agency has registered its concerns with the Treasury Department about Nippon Telegraph & Telephone Corp.'s (NTT's)planned acquisition of Verio Inc., Englewood, Colo., according to lawyers and government officials familiar with the matter -- (Several Sources)
