At least 15 Palestinians were injured, two seriously, when two Israeli tanks opened fire Tuesday on Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip after at least one roadside bomb exploded near an army patrol, hospital officials told AFP.

The Jerusalem Post newspaper reported that one or two bombs went off near the Jewish settlement of Morag near Rafah in the path of an Israeli military patrol, causing no injuries.

Witnesses in Rafah said that after the explosions, the tanks opened fire in the direction of the Palestinian-run area, according to AFP.

The paper added that a heavy exchange of fire took place during the night between Khan Yunis and Neveh Dekalim Jewish settlement, and near the Erez industrial zone.

Meanwhile, the paper said that a woman settler was wounded late Monday by Palestinian gunfire as she was travelling through the West Bank city of Hebron - Albawaba.com
