FileNet Corporation, the leading provider of Enterprise Content and Business Process Management solutions and Hitachi Data Systems Corporation, provider of Application Optimized Storage™ solutions and wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi Ltd., have announced an integrated solution designed to help customers preserve and protect sensitive enterprise information.
The solution, based on Hitachi industry-leading storage systems, integrates Hitachi Data Retention Utility software with the FileNet P8 Enterprise Content Management (ECM) platform release 3.5.
FileNet P8 enables companies to make better decisions faster by uniquely addressing their content and process needs, including managing content in and outside of FileNet repositories from a central, federated catalogue. The partnership between FileNet and Hitachi Data Systems will provide solutions such as integration of FileNet’s Content Manager, Email Manager, Records Manager and Image Manager with the Hitachi Data Retention Utility software. The Data Retention Utility provides Write-Once-Many (WORM) functionality for disk media across all tiers of Hitachi storage.
“Enterprise Content Management and high performance storage infrastructure solutions are a natural complement when it comes to helping customers meet the challenges of managing information,” said Carlo Stellati, Vice President, South Europe, Middle East and Africa, FileNet. “We believe this joint solution offers tremendous synergy between the two companies’ technologies, offering opportunities to enhance our respective capabilities and address compliance of regulatory initiatives and management of the information lifecycle in order to deliver greater customer benefits.”
The joint solution will help customers manage and store very large volumes of documents, including critical email and other business records on Hitachi’s high performance storage area network (SAN)-based storage subsystems.
In addition, the solution can address corporate governance and regulatory compliance directives which mandate specific document retention periods, immutability and the establishment and proof of required document control and management processes.
