The 5th Khmissa award was held recently in Marrakech, in which five successful women were awarded in the categories of culture, management, media, sports and social life. Emarrakech reports that Chadia Derkaoui, the linguistics professor at the University of Agadir, received the culture award for her translation of Albert Camus’ book “Les Justes” (The Just). In the category of management, the award was given to Fatima Lakhal from Oujda, for establishing and running her own business and for being a real example of “self made woman”.

In the media category, the award was given to journalist Kaima Bellouchi from the Moroccan First Channel for her success as a sports journalist, which is considered to be a taboo for women. In the sports category, the award went to Karima Ait Elarbi, who was the Takwandoo champion of Morocco in 2002. Aicha Handar received the social life award for working as a midwife for the last ten years and helping women in the province of El Haouz.
