The Philadelphia Flyers triumphed 2-1 over the Pittsburgh Penguins in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference semifinal series at Mellon Arena Tuesday, making it their third victory in Pittsburgh in a week.
The flyers captured the series 4-2 and will host the New Jersey Devils in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference semifinals on Sunday at the First Union Center.
Mark Recchi and John Mc Clair each had a goal and an assist to lead the Flyers to their victory, for the
second time in 10 tries after losing the first two games at home.
New Jersey clutched a 15-point lead over Philadelphia, after beating the Flyers at home in early February, but the lead soon vanished and the Flyers, with 105 points, seized the division title and the top seed in the Eastern Conference by winning their final four season games - (Several Sources).
