Former Iranian president Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani said on Friday that Iran is ready to prove in talks that military weapons have no room in its nuclear program. “Absolutely, manufacture of military weapons has no position in Iran’s nuclear program. We are ready to prove the issue in talks,” Ayatollah Rafsanjani, said, according to IRNA.
Rafsanjani said “If you have good intention towards talks, so do not seek pretexts. Talks should be long, constant and logical, while being free of any threat, intimidation and warning so that we can reach a point that is fact. I tell you for sure that in Iran’s nuclear program there is no room for manufacture of military weapons. Those are you who insinuate the wrong concept to the world public opinion and minds; don’t do that. You terrify the region; that’s not to anybody’s interest.”
Commenting on recent Iran report of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Head, Mohammad ElBaradei, Iran’s former president said the report is double-standard and not good. “Despite announcing that there is no reason for Iran going after military works, the report continued to leave the ambiguity why Iran does not implement the additional protocol?”
He added, “We have not signed the additional protocol and have neither given any commitment.”
