ALBAWABA-In a historic move, French President Emmanuel Macron named Gabriel Attal, 34, as the new Prime Minister, making him the youngest head of government in the history of the Fifth French Republic.

Attal, often dubbed the "new Macron," takes on a substantial legacy, having played a key role in advocating for pension system reforms and the recent presidential immigration law.

Widely popular, Attal is recognized as the face of Macron's government and the majority.

He also served as the youngest Minister of Education and became the first French prime minister to openly identify as gay.

His appointment comes at a crucial time for Macron's second term, marked by challenges including a lack of majority in the National Assembly and the ascent of far-right politics.
