GAC Logistics (UK) has won the prestigious Special Services Award at the annual British International Freight Association (BIFA) Freight Services Awards.

The Award was presented to GAC Logistics (UK) Managing Director Dennis Mead at a ceremony at The Brewery in London on 18 January, in recognition of the company’s innovation, first class customer service and “very creative approach” demonstrated by its In Partnership product.

This customised solution offers clients a unique arrangement through which a large part or all of their shipping operations are outsourced to GAC.

The BIFA judges felt that “with a high quality presentation and outstanding customer testimonials, GAC Logistics (UK) demonstrated clear and tangible advantages for the customer including the provision of service enhancements, greater added value, and competitive rates.”

The In Partnership concept was born before Benair Freight International’s acquisition by the GAC Group in September 2005. Prior to that, Benair had 30 years of experience in international freight forwarding and was known for being quick to spot trends and opportunities. It also fostered close relationships with its clients and took pride in its ability to provide solutions tailor-made to their needs. Following Benair’s acquisition by GAC, the Group’s strong brand and global reach have enhanced the original In Partnership concept and enabled it to be further developed to award-winning level in just over a year.

Dennis Mead explains that the flexibility and cost efficiency of In Partnership makes it of particular benefit to small and medium-sized companies, where responsibility for importing and exporting falls within the remit of other job functions. Companies could consider In Partnership when export/import volumes have grown beyond what the existing staff can manage.

“The fundamental advantage of In Partnership is its stress-relieving quality,” he adds. “The shipping function is intrinsically prone to hazard, complication and hidden costs and it is not difficult to persuade a potential client that these are things they can do without.

“The BIFA Award is testament to our clients’ recognition and appreciation of our services. We wish to thank our customers and the judges of the BIFA Awards for that recognition, which will motivate us to achieve even higher standards in the industry.”
