Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) finalized the project of renewing the south transportation complex by installing 10 metal sunshades for the bus stops, designed and executed by GAM, in addition to fixing 21 metal sunshades for the service cabs stops inside the same complex which is located on a space area of 40 dunnums.
According to the Director of Supervision and the Projects Department, Eng. Mohammed Kharabsheh, the restoration works cost 200,000 JOD, including the sidewalks and middle islands with a space area of 4000 m2, and aiming at facilitating and organizing entrance and exit to and from the complex, as well as installing plants and ornamental trees.
GAM finalized also a popular Souq (market) of Marj Al Ahamam, close to the Communications (Itisalat) Circle, with a cost of 100,000 JOD, on a total space area of 3000 m2, including the installment of 70 metal sunshades, made of galvanized tubes covered with 9 m2 long fabric for each tube in addition to a building on 70 m2 piece of land with sanitation facilities for all the public.
GAM finished a center for IT and trading stores in the urban development housing in Marka region, with a cost that amounts to 130,000 JOD. The project includes stores, parking lots, sidewalks, and one floor within the building which is designed to be an IT center.
GAM completed the removal of lighting and trees transfer from the middle islands in Queen Rania Al Abdullah Street, as an opening stage for the first package of rapid shuttling buses project.
The first package of the project includes two sections, the first starts from Ad-Dawriyat Al Kharijiyah (highway patrols) traffic lights to Queen Rania Street, and the other from the University Hospital intersection to the Sahafah (Press) tunnel.
According to the director of Traffic Operations Department, Eng. Khaled Haddadin, GAM has installed the side lighting, pointing out that the middle island in Queen Rania Street will be removed to implement special lanes for rapid shuttling buses.
He further clarified that a middle island is to be shifted as pavements on the sides, separating the lane of the rapid shuttling buses from that of other vehicles, also the lighting is to be re-installed with higher specifications and levels, and the trees are to be planted.
