Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) Council held a session presided over by Mayor of Amman, Omar Maani, during which the renovation and construction tender of King Faisal Plaza (the 1st & 2nd packages) was awarded to one of the local companies.
The cession also awarded the tender of implementing asphalt mixes with a cost of JOD 2,090,000 to be undertaken in different locations of GAM regions.
The session discussed the achievements and activities of GAM regions and departments, as well as the actions taken by the local committees in other regions and committees emanating from GAM council within the first quarter of the current year.
The Council also approved the amendment of the lease contracts signed with tenants in Haya Cultural compound in Shmeisani, except for Sultan Food Supplements Co, according to conditions, for an annual payment of JOD 152 per square meters, and the new lease duration shall be for 5 years.
The properties and acquisition committee’s decision was also approved, regarding lease contracts for properties in King Abdullah Parks complex, which stipulated an exemption of an equal payment for the previous year, and collection of equal payment for the rest of the contract duration in accordance with the terms of the expired contracts, then to sign new contracts ending on 31 November 2011 with the same remuneration stipulated in the old expired contracts.
The Council reviewed the minutes of meeting held between Housing and Urban Development Establishment and GAM to address issues pertaining to Abu Nseir Housing City, and both authorities decided not to issue registration documents for ownership transfer of the apartments in the first phase of the project, until full payment is settled in accordance with the Establishment’s law.
They also agreed on changing the categories of the pieces of land, near the refinement station, as light industries to be transferred into “residential area with special provisions”, in addition to converting the categories of some residential areas into commercial areas, following a study, and considering the citizens’ complaints regarding the noise resulting from the commercial utilization.
GAM Council issued an amended version of the social security system for GAM employees, completing the necessary legal procedures. Paragraph (B) of article (12) of the main system was amended by cancelling the phrase “to be paid 35%” and replacing it with “to be paid 52.5%”. Article 2 applies to every subscriber in the fund, whose service has ended and earned such a percentage, in accordance with the provisions of article (12) of Law No. 115 for the year 2009, from the date of effectiveness until the date of expiry.
